The Ondo State Government has inaugurated a technical committee for the Diaspora Smart City Project, marking the early take-off of one of the most ambitious urban development plans in the state’s history.

The project is designed to attract investment, innovation, and international collaboration from Ondo indigenes in the diaspora and foreign partners. Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa described the initiative as “a forward-thinking step to make Ondo a modern, inclusive, and digitally connected city.”

When completed, the Diaspora Smart City will feature eco-friendly housing, renewable energy systems, tech incubation hubs, and lifestyle facilities that redefine living standards in Southwestern Nigeria. The move aligns with the state’s vision to create sustainable communities under the E.A.S.E. development framework — promoting Empowerment, Accountability, Security, and Ease of Living.

By tapping into the expertise and resources of its global citizens, Ondo State is not just building a city — it’s building the future.
