NFRASTRUCTURAL REVOLUTION OF GOVERNOR AIYEDATIWA

Under Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Ondo State has witnessed a notable uptick in infrastructural investment, particularly in road works, aiming to connect communities, stimulate economic growth, and improve public services.

From the outset of his administration, Governor Aiyedatiwa committed significant resources to road development. As part of his OUR EASE agenda, he approved the rehabilitation, reconstruction, and asphalt overlay of over 50 township roads across all 18 local government areas. This includes scarification, new drainage construction, and earthworks.

Within his first 100 days in office, the Governor commissioned the Stadium – Hospital Road in Ondo City, a strategic artery that links major healthcare institutions such as the General Hospital and the Ondo State University of Medical Sciences. He described the road as more than infrastructure, a lifeline that improves access to essential services.

Governor Aiyedatiwa has also shown resolve to complete projects his administration inherited. He assured that even large ones like the Ijoka Road, Oda Road and the Onyearugbulem/Shagari flyover will be seen through, a promise that is gradually becoming a reality owing to the level of work being carried out.

In the riverine Ilaje area, his administration inaugurated over 40km of roads as part of a broader push to improve connectivity in oil-producing and coastal communities. Under that same initiative, concrete walkways, jetties, and bridges across waterways have been constructed.

More ambitious road projects are also ongoing. Dualisation of key corridors such as Akure – Idanre, Akungba – Ikare, and Okitipupa – Igbokoda are underway. Alongside, the government has approved rehabilitation of about five kilometers of road in each of the 18 LGAs.

Governor Aiyedatiwa’s 2026 budget further underscores his focus on infrastructure: over 57 percent is allocated to capital expenditure, with major investments in water projects, dual carriageways, rural and urban roads, and infrastructure in coastal areas.

In summary, Governor Aiyedatiwa’s approach to infrastructure is both expansive and strategic. He is not only repairing and upgrading existing roads, but also pushing for major new projects to link underserved areas, including riverine communities. His administration’s steady flow of resources and clear commitment to completing all inherited projects reflect a long-term developmental vision for Ondo State.
